One hears a voice inside one's head saying, “If only…” Dougal's distractibility, defiance and excitability have all been significantly curtailed by the medication. On the rare occasions that he demonstrates such behaviours, the question immediately arises: “Has he taken his medication today?” Furthermore, Dougal's academic progress has returned to the correct trajectory – compensating for 18 months of what was effectively static performance. He achieved fantastic SATs results in English, Maths and Science. Clearly with his ADHD under control, he has the potential to achieve much more at secondary school.
